Northumbria, 1076. A young woman’s corpse is washed up at Blackrocks Point near Bamburgh Castle. She has been brutally stabbed and thrown into the sea. Her body is recovered from the cold waters and quickly taken away for burial. No one utters regret or sorrow at her death, and one, Lioba, the sister of the Earl of Northumbria, is secretly gleeful.
What has this young woman done to bring such violence upon herself? Who is she, and what is her connection to the Earl and his sister? As the narrative unfolds a dark and gripping tale of love and betrayal, jealousy, ambition and rivalry, madness and revenge is revealed that has led to murder.
Death of a Maiden is a work in progress.
